Dubai Bambino Cup: RD2

AL HABSI WINS ROUND TWO OF THE DUBAI BAMBINO CUP

Dubai, UAE, 12 November 2017:  Visiting driver Abdul Wahab Al Habsi upset the local favourites to claim Round Two of the Dubai Bambino Cup at Dubai Kartdrome on Saturday (11 November 2017).

Zachary Stimpson dominated the field in Round One, with Amer Al Ghaferi and Eddie Moutran close behind.  There were high expectations for the three drivers in Round Two, but a new challenger, Abdul Wahab Al Habsi, travelled in from Oman and outpaced them all.

Al Habsi was relentless from morning until afternoon, winning all four time trials of the contest and setting the fastest lap of the day at 1:16.244.

Stimpson was the closest to catching Al Habsi, getting to within 0.180 seconds in time trial two, but the Omani driver was always one step ahead. Stimpson had to settle for a second-place trophy for the round.

Lennard Titica also emerged as a real contender, with consistent finishes earning him third-place on the day.

Dubai Bambino Cup Race Director David Bright said, “The championship has made great strides gaining in popularity each round.  What makes this series so appealing is the pooled IAME engines, one-make Komet tyres, weight control, fuel control, and shared tyre pressure information.  This creates a level playing field that allows the young drivers to have fun and focus on the racing.”
